“I don’t think about the miles that are coming down the road, I don’t think about the mile I’m on right now, I don’t think about the miles I’ve already covered. I think about what I’m doing right now, just being lost in the moment.”—Ryan Hall (via isensearunner)
“It takes a special kind of person to be a runner. In every other sport, you do it to hurt someone else. When you run, you do it to hurt yourself. It takes a special kind of mentality to survive in this sport.”—Jim Morgan 1968-1973 Head XC Coach at PHS 61-9-1 record from 1969-1973 (via justjilling)
Runners are different. We put our bodies through the wringer every day. Snowstorms and lightning don't send us hiding inside. There's nothing unusual about coming home covered in mud or drenched in sweat from head to toe. We come home, exhausted and hungry. The cycle never ends, but for some reason we love it. People tell us we're crazy. Well, you know what? I think I am crazy. And I love it.
